2nd Int'l Digital Earth Conference
Ken Markowitz has developed an oil spill scenario (in conjunction with ECOLogic)
that will be presented at the Digital Earth Conference.
The scenario will also be presented as part of Jeff de la Beaujardiere's Alpha Version presentation at the
Conference. Greg Yetman and Ken will staff a Federation booth using the Federation display that will be
shipped to Canada. The display will include a descriptions of the Scenario and scenario
template that Ken developed. Ken will send out to the Cluster some of his presentation material for comment.
Ken prepared a write-up about the Conference for the Federation newsletter.
North Dakota Conference
Many of us will not be arriving in Grand Forks until late Monday. So we will schedule a Cluster
meeting sometime on Tuesday or Wednesday (perhaps during a lunch or dinner).
WMS Gateways
ArcIMS 3.1 has just been released. This product has the ArcIMS-WMS Connector built in, and it removes numerous bugs
that made it difficult to use. The DODS-WMS Gateway is also ready to be used. Any ESIP distributing
DODS data can add this connector to their DODS server to enable access to WMS clients. Interested ESIPs should
contact James Gallagher (DODS).
SWIL Update
Tim Rhyne could not attend but indicated by mail that the SWIL still plans to add support for WMS
Capabilities files (to enable SWIL advertisement of and access to WMS data).
WMS 1.1 (now officially approved) supports the listing of DIF IDs in the Capabilities files.
Cluster Funding
Dave Etter provided Ken Markowitz with $10K to cover his scenario/template development work.
Dave suggested that we present a
proposal to Martha for further funding. Anyone interested in receiving Cluster money should put
together a paragraph description and send to Rob or to the Cluster e-mail list.
We'll bundle the paragraphs together and present the packaged proposal to Martha in North Dakota.
